BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and Vice President Miran Ali attended a meeting of the Worldwide Finance Company (IFC) held at IFC headquarters in Washington D.C. on September 9, 2021(US Time).
Alfonso Garcia Mora, Regional Vice President for Asia and Pacific Sabine Schlorke, Worldwide Head, Producing and Portfolio and Tania Lozansky, Senior Supervisor of Advisory for Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Expert services sectors at IFC attended the assembly which was nearly joined by Hector Gomez Ang, Regional Director for South Asia, Wendy Werner, Nation Supervisor (Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal) and Nishad Shahid Chowdhury, Operations Officer, IFC.
In the conference BGMEA President Faruque Hassan apprised the IFC of the development made by Bangladesh’s apparel sector in the spots of workplace protection, social and environmental sustainability and workers’ wellbeing.
He stressed the value of financing SMEs who are typically in require of very low-expense fund as they generally simply cannot avail common financing strategies thanks to stringent because of diligence. He sought cooperation of IFC notably for funding SMEs for enabling them to undertake sustainability methods.
He also highlighted the potential priorities of Bangladesh attire field, primarily more concentration on diversification in solutions, sector and innovation in merchandise advancement and method optimization.
He identified as for higher cooperation and collaboration to assistance the RMG industry in the locations of sustainability, merchandise diversification, expertise improvement, technological upgradation, innovations.
Faruque Hassan thanked IFC for its continued cooperation and assistance in previous few decades, in particular in the space of sustainability, significantly the “Partnership for Cleaner Textile: PaCT” program which has supported collaborating factories in reducing the carbon footprint and water footprint.
The IFC expressed interest to continue on collaboration for the betterment of RMG business of Bangladesh.
